Have you chosen a word for 2016 yet? I began this annual word focus after hearing on the radio five years ago and it's been fun and awesome to see what God does when He has our attention. If you don't have a word, pray about it. Ask God what He wants you to focus on this year. Read through Scripture and find stories and verses that speak to the season of your heart right now. What are your hopes, prayers, goals, and dreams for 2016? Do you see a common theme running through them that would boil down to one word? Offer it to God and let it be your heart's rally cry for 2016.

Heavenly Father, thank you for being a God who is always up to something new. New mercies, new beginnings, and new life. May 2016 be the year we surrender every square inch of who we are to you. Be our guide and counselor every step of the way. Amen!
